Bantu Holomisa on his Way out of the ANC
In 1994 Bantu Holomisa, a former Bantustan leader joined the African National Congress and was elected to the National Executive Committee. He was also appointed Deputy Minister of Environment and Tourism. He became a very popular member. Two years later, however his star began to fall in the ANC especially when he gave evidence to the TRC not as an ANC member but as a former as "a former Transkei head of state". This led to his dismissal from the ANC. After his dismissal Holomisa said that the casinos tycoon Sol Kerzner had contributed to the ANC and made allegations against leading party figures, including Deputy President Thabo Mbeki. .
