Description & Background

The Gupta family's New Age media company intends to launch a 24-hour news channel on Dstv. The channel will be taking the place of the SABC's planned 24-hour news channel, which will no longer be airing on DStv. The New Age was in the news for receiving multimillion-rand sponsorships from state-owned entities to host the New Age business breakfasts. The Guptas are family friends of President Jacob Zuma.
